Formula of Ratio, Proportion

 

• If values of A & B are 10 and 8 respectively then ration can be written as 10:8 ( ten is to 8) or can also be written as 10/8.
• If a:b = b:c = 2:3 then a:b:c ?

In this case a:b = 2:3 and b:c =2:3, so b is common and value of b must satisfy both side. So to resolve the problem value of b must satisfy value of a and c.and to get solution multiplication withproperties of b at both side can be made.

a:b =2:3 &b:c=2:3

=2x2 : 3 x2 & 2 x3 : 3x3

So 4:6:9.

 

If an amount divided into four parts in such a that 2 times of first part, 3 times of second parts, 4 times of third part and 6 time of four part are all equal. What is the ratio of the divided amount?

 

Lets four parts be a,b,c and d.

So 2a=3b=4c=6d=k,a= k/2, b=k/3, c=k/4 and d=k/6. Do LCM of 2,3,4,6 it will be 12,

So a:b:c:d = 6k/12: 4k/12: 3k/12:2k/12

So ratio will be 6:4:3:2
